“Justice Minister Jinen Nagase said on Tuesday he had accepted money from a rural group that recruits foreign trainees for businesses last year after giving advice on visas.

“I usually accept money that’s given to me to support me,” Nagase told a news conference. “I don’t think the money is suspicious.”

Despite being a resource scarce island with a land mass 1/25th the size of the US, this is how Japan has managed to hold on to the #2 position in GDP. Outside the box thinking like, “Accepting money that’s given to me” is the hallmark of J-ballers like Nagase. Other strong moves to the hoop include “always accepting cars that are given to me”, and “always taking home J-hookers when offered”.

This is a centuries old practice in Japan which is typified by the adage, やりたがら、払う！ “You want it done? F^ck you, PAY ME!” This is actually part of the samurai code.

It’s a fascinating culture.
